- Hi All,
-
- I just picked up a few ISDN modems at the local bankruptcy auction..
- They are Motorola units, 2 TA120Ks and one UTA220K.. I couldn't get
- much info on the 120's , but I found out that the 220 is 128k dual
- channel with a D channel and integral NT1.. Sounds pretty impressive.
-
- What I would like to do is fairly simple.. I want to use this to set
- up one of my 3000T-040 machines on the net, so customers could see
- current inventory, what was new, special etc..
-
- We already have a system set-up, that handles all the incoming lines,
- voice info, and centrex (PhonePaks and ARexx.. Amiga, just gotta
- love it!!). We also plan to use Enlan DFS with NetRexx to link this
- to another Amiga which will handle outgoing Fax-Info.. This Enlan
- DFS stuff is real easy to set-up and use.. it has been running on a
- net with 3 machines for about 1.5 months now, and we have had no
- trouble with it at all.. No crashes no weirdness nothing.. the Phone
- sys is on 24hrs 7days, the other machines on and off at random, and
- we haven't re-booted the phone system the entire time..
-
- So this is why I want to set up our net-stuff on Amiga.. this way
- the Voice-info/centrex system, the Fax-info system, and the Net-info
- system could all be looking at the same files.. and Arexx can handle
- all the little chores, like changing the information in these files,
- and making new voice messages, to match what is happening in the
- database..
-
- It took about 5-6 months in my spare time to learn Arexx well enough
- to build the suite of programs that handles the phone lines, and
- actually makes the messages and menus by reading text files.. So I'm
- not looking to learn UNIX and then try and figure out how to link it
- to ARexx and the other stuff.. I'm real sure I can build this entire
- setup using ARexx, I just need some Amiga stuff that will be a front
- end to the net, and have ARexx Port(s) so Info can change on the fly.
-
- If anyone knows, or sells any Real Easy stuff to use Amiga as an ftp
- site, a web site, or both, I would really like to know about it.. I
- Really don't care about real fancy web pages or anything like that..
- But most of the re-sellers who buy from us are even more Unix-Impaired
- than I am.. So It looks like I will almost be forced to do some stuff
- with the point and click interface that show up on netscape compuserve
- and aol..
-
- Any info / help / hints would be most appreciated.. Especially any
- info regarding any special hardware/software needed to talk to the
- Motorola ISND hardware.. Absolute worst case is I'll use them from
- home to biz, and from biz to net.. maybe the 2 120s between home and
- the office, and then the 220 between the office and some net provider..
-
- If it makes any dif.. Phone system is 3000T-030 4PhonePaks and 2065..
- System at desk1 3000T-040 Emplant Vortex EGS GVP-I/O 2065.. System
- to send faxes and use at desk2 3000D with PP040 2PhonPaks. and 2065..
- system available for net stuff 3000T-040.. Towers using 3.1 desktop
- is 2.04 but will probably be upgraded..
